Investigation Continues in Adán Manzano Case

Adán Manzano, a Mexican reporter for Telemundo, passed away more than a month ago while covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans. On February 5th, Manzano was found dead in a hotel in Kenner, and the next day, Danette Colbert was arrested for stealing his cell phone and credit cards.

On March 18th, it was reported that Colbert faced additional charges of second-degree murder. Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley announced that another suspect was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on charges related to theft and fraud in connection with Manzano's case.

The Jefferson County coroner, Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich, revealed that the cause of Adán's death was "positional asphyxia" due to the combination of alcohol and the depressant Xanax. Cvitanovich explained that both are central nervous system depressants and that consuming them together can obstruct the ability to breathe.

Conley expressed confidence in having enough evidence to successfully prosecute Colbert for murder. No prescriptions for Xanax or other depressants were found in Manzano's medical records, but the drug was discovered in Colbert's residence.
